Bio
Dr. Jimmy Moore began playing the guitar at age 9, influenced by the ever-growing record collection of his older sister Jeanie. His primary influences are: Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Paul Gilbert, and Yngwie Malmsteen to name a few.
Dr. Moore has performed in many very different groups which include: The Mapples (Tallahassee based rock cover band), The Charles Atkins Blues Band(FSU College of Music Ensemble), Dr. Fox (Tallahassee based original rock band), and Schizo Grin (Tampa based original metal band). Dr. Moore’s input with these groups has ranged from songwriter, arranger, vocalist and guitarist.
As a guitarist, Dr. Moore draws on both his influences and his classical training, often incorporating classical right hand techniques with electric guitar performance for an original sound.
Dr. Moore currently resides in the Tampa Bay Area where he is the current Director of Guitar Studies at the Manatee School of the Arts in Palmetto,FL where he provides instruction in classical and electric guitar techniques and methods.
